Schedule/description of work
In order to improve computer security on campus, idle-timeouts will be enabled on most campus computers.
Independent computers, not part of our campus domain, and Macintoshes will be unaffected. Most office PCs, computing lab PCs, and teacher stations in classrooms will have an idle-timeout enabled. Once a computer has gone past the idle-timeout limit the computer screen will lock and will require the user to re-authenticate with their campus credentials to unlock the screen. Office PCs will have a 15 minute idle-timeout set. Computer lab PCs and teacher stations will have a 1 hour and 15 minute idle-timeout set.
An idle-timeout lockout provides a powerful layer of protection from inappropriate access to your computer and all the network and application resources to which you and your computer have privileges. This security improvement helps protect our student, employee, and financial data with little to no negative impact to authorized users.
